Adoption Stories
August 1, 2008 by janrylee
It was Adoption Day today. My friend Klondike Kate (see her blog link on the right) has waited two long years to adopt AJ and today was the day. Her foster-adopt support group arranged for her to have a limo ride to the courthouse. The boys and I got up early and drove to their house, hid our car and waited for them to come out of their house to see the limo for the first time. Little AJ was so excited! It has always been her dream to ride in a limo, and to have it happen on her adoption day just put her over the moon!
Here they are leaving for the courthouse.
While we were waiting for the proceedings to begin, I had a chance to take a family photo. This is Klondike Kate and AJ with the proud grandparents.

And here is the happy family and Judge Malone. The adoption is complete. Another forever family is born.

For more details and more photos, see Klondike Kate’s blog.
There was another adoption today too. The family that adopted Michael & Joe’s siblings adopted Baby C today. I was not the self-appointed photographer for that event, but check out Christina’s blog (see link on the right) for photos of their special day.
It has been exactly nine months since I adopted the boys. Today’s events made it feel like it just happened. I was overwhelmed with the joy and the sense of responsibility that comes with adopting a child all over again. What a day in the life of my friends.
